Some things my mum taught me as a child that I will try to teach my own little girl:

1) Don't pinch your nose when the rubbish truck goes by, because the worker will see you. This is his job, it is important, and you must respect it.
2) Don't be materialistic. Branded things are not important, character is.
3) Don't leave a mess behind at the hawker centre after your meal. Pick up the scraps, stack the bowls neatly, make the job easier for the cleaner.
4) If someone is waiting for your table or your parking lot, hurry. Don't take your time simply because you have the right to do it.
5) Nod your head and smile when someone enters the lift, don't treat people as if they are transparent.
6) Listen when the tour guide is talking. Don't keep taking photos. It is rude, and you will miss out on the learning.
7) Read.
8) When you go to someone's home, don't touch things. If someone offers you a snack, say thank you and accept it, but don't eat it without mum's permission. But don't ask mum in front of the host either, because if the answer is no, it would embarrass the host.
9) Put things back in it's original place after you've used it, so others can find it, and the house is kept neat.
10) Always greet the elders first when you enter the house.

we should have a purpose in life, find out what makes us happy and work towards that. Only when you love what you are doing then you will enjoy the work and in return the reward will be both monetary and non monetary.

Its up to us to decide what kind of a person we want to be and choose what to listen to!
