the hill

when you push too hard for that little difference between getting what you want and what you can;t get, something had to give somewhere and getting what you want was not always worth the cost of what was lost. opportunity cost and the law of diminishing returns.

********************************************

something i remembered,

"why do we always want high ground?"

"a better view, better defence and better firing position"

"thats right. right now you;re standing in a valley and you can;t see very much. down and dark. really depressing man."

"don;t i know it"

"so we;ll have to get up that hill, don;t we? if we want to get a better view of things, be in a better position to get on with our lives"

"assualting a hill is never easy"

"don;t i know it......i took the hill"

"what?"

"you must want to take the hill, God, you must want to. life is full of hills we have to take. some are big, some are little. and to some extent we can choose which ones we will fight for, which we will let go of. but there;s one that we have to take, again and again and again."

"which is?"

"its called the hill after every failure"

"its going to be painful"

"every hill ever worth taking was painfull too"

"and when i have taken the hill after every failure?

"i hope you will not stop. there are many more to go"

"never ends does it"

"no, it shouldn;t, not if dreams meant anything and not if life was to be worth living"

trekking

what is so nice about climbing up mountains? the view? the sense of fulfilment?or some sense of obligation? a measurement of success?

its the absolute simplicity, when one is climbing, your mind is clear of all confusion, one will have focus. then suddenly, the light becomes sharper, the sounds are richer and you are filled with the deep powerful presence of life.

what goes up must come down. going up is half the story. coming down completes the story.

compare

there will always be a period of time whereby you would start comparing something from another thing. either you compare or being compared. the whole meaning of comparing is simply to see who or what is superior or inferior. its true we cannot avoid comparing from happening, and it is usually never fair. but we must always keep in mind, to be realistic and always remember that a mountain will always be higher than another mountain. it never ends and it usually doesn;t come to a sensible conclusion.

even if you;re being compared, and you;re known to be the superior one, be humble. because one can win today, but tomorrow, one may lose. things change. however, if you;re the inferior one, don;t let it get to you. be proud of who you are. being someone you are is more important than something you know, or something you have.
